Vicki Jean Hollingshead

Vicki Hollingshead of Des Moines – Vicki (Goode) Hollingshead, 64, passed away on April 28, 2020 at her home.

Vicki was born on November 26, 1955 in Des Moines, IA to parents Cleo and Nellie (Willis) Goode. Vicki graduated from East High School in 1974.

Vicki married the love of her life Jeff Hollingshead on July 25, 1987 and they resided as proud east siders their entire marriage.

Vicki worked for over 25 years at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital Child Care Center where she lovingly cared for multiple generations of hospital staff children. The parents showered her with gifts of thanks year after year for giving them peace of mind that she cared for their children like they were her own.

Vicki and Jeff loved raising dogs from Rottweilers to Yorkies. They especially loved attending the Iowa State Fair every year. She and Jeff would visit the fair almost every day even if it was just to grab dinner. In the fall, her favorite thing to do was to take a long drive along the Mississippi river to see the fall leaves turning. Vicki’s family was everything to her. She lived for the family gatherings down on her niece’s farm where they would enjoy a good meal and a day of fishing.

Vicki is survived by her husband Jeff Hollingshead, niece Lisa (Allen) Thomlinson of Thayer, brother Don (Linda) Goode of Newton, sister Marsha Gutierrez of Des Moines, brother Garry Goode of Des Moines, sister-in-law Janet Goode and many nieces and nephews that she adored dearly.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents Cleo and Nellie Goode, brother Larry Goode and brother-in-law George Gutierrez.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 4th from 11am – 1pm at Hamilton’s East, 605 Lyon St., Des Moines, IA. Due to COVID-19 restrictions visitors will be limited in the building 10 at a time. The funeral service will be live-streamed Monday, May 4th at 1pm followed by burial at Berwick Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to follow the escort to the Berwick Cemetery and stay in their cars for the graveside service to give Vicki her own parade to her final resting spot.
