Dorothy Tham

Dorothy Louise Tham, 102, was born February 1, 1918, and passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord, Wednesday morning, April 15, 2020, at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa of natural causes.

Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Des Moines and a graduate of Lincoln High School. She was an active member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church and was recently recognized as their longest living member. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, which doesn’t nearly explain how involved she was in all of these lives. Her family and friends were her passion for life.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mark E. Tham (Jane) of West Des Moines, and Michael of Florida; two granddaughters, Terra Winkler (Jerry) of Gilbert, AZ, and Brooke Sterling of Cedar Park, TX; five great-grandchildren, Jack and Joshua Winkler, Lily, Griffin, and Calin Sterling; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she kept in contact with.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Eugene Tham and her brothers, Fred, Ross, and Frank Poulson.

There will be a private graveside service at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines for immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, 3120 SW 9th St, Des Moines, IA 50315 in loving memory of Dorothy.
