Mertze and family, You will hear this hundreds if times over during the next few days and it won't be anything you don't already know, but Wadeo was truly a great guy. He was a great officer and became one of the legendary Sergeants that the Des Moines Police Department was blessed to have in its ranks.
To me what made Wadeo such a great guy to be around was not just that he was great at his job, but he was just always so laid back -I would even characterize him as being "cool." He took care of the people who worked for him and he garnered the highest respect from all who had the pleasure of working with him. He took the job seriously, but you could always depend on him to give you a laugh when you needed one. You and your family will miss him and all of his retired buddies in blue will miss him too.
