Jonathon M. Dooley-Winn
April 11, 2020
Jon M. Dooley-Winn passed away after a courageous, well fought battle against leukemia. He was born on August 14, 2005, in St. Joseph, MO to Amanda and Michael Dooley.
Jon’s colorful spirit was accepting and loving of everyone no matter what. He loved playing Legos and listening to music by Mercy Me. His greatest joy each year was attending Camp Heart Connection Oncology Camp where he made many lasting friendships. Jon was a ray of love and positivity even on the darkest days.
Jon is survived by his mom, Christina Edmonston; brother, Jeremiah; sisters, Mikayla, Alyssa, and Leah; grandparents, Ron and Diane Cunningham; aunts, Kathy Kritchard and Amber Dooley; godmother, Rhonda Stoker; great aunt and uncle, Donna and Tim Hoskinson; as well as other loving family and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his great-grandma, Joanne Woodard and grandpa, Mike Winn.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Visitation was held in April.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Camp Heart Connection Oncology Camp in loving memory of Jon.
Friends and family will gather at a later date to celebrate his life. We encourage friends to share their sympathies with Jon’s family using Hamilton’s online condolences at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

J we will miss your hugs and your smile. You were so funny. If you could walk around school all day just to say "Hi" to everyone, you would...you just loved people. I remember when you lost your sight. I always thought to myself, "Jon just keeps persevering through everything! No matter what has happened to this young boy, he just keeps smiling and making jokes." You could not walk the hallways without saying "Hello" or "Hey Jon" because he always knew that you were there. Jon was so good at knowing everyone's voice. I loved that about him. He really did brighten your day. We were all so enlightened by your presence and learned so much from you. I have always believed that all of the kiddos we work with are our teachers. Nothing and no one comes into your life by accident. You my friend, have tought us all! You were loved by so many. You left an imprint in so many hearts and we will all miss that smile. Jon, you were a strong and brave Super Hero down here. Now you are flying with the Super Heroes up there.??????? ?? Fly high buddy.

I am so sorry to hear this. He had such a beautiful spirit! We have been homeschooling for almost 5 years and left DesMoines 3 1/2 years ago and I still thought of him often. He will forever be in my heart and I hold those hugs he liked to give close to me. ?? I thank God to have been given the wonderful gift of meeting your son.

Im so very sorry for your loss. Jonathan was so incredibly kind and even when he lost his sight he still tried to figure out which teacher was passing by and talking to who he was with so he could give them a warm greeting. Ill always remember him grabbing my hand and telling me stories.
