Jonathon M. Dooley-Winn
April 11, 2020
Jon M. Dooley-Winn passed away after a courageous, well fought battle against leukemia. He was born on August 14, 2005, in St. Joseph, MO to Amanda and Michael Dooley.
Jon’s colorful spirit was accepting and loving of everyone no matter what. He loved playing Legos and listening to music by Mercy Me. His greatest joy each year was attending Camp Heart Connection Oncology Camp where he made many lasting friendships. Jon was a ray of love and positivity even on the darkest days.
Jon is survived by his mom, Christina Edmonston; brother, Jeremiah; sisters, Mikayla, Alyssa, and Leah; grandparents, Ron and Diane Cunningham; aunts, Kathy Kritchard and Amber Dooley; godmother, Rhonda Stoker; great aunt and uncle, Donna and Tim Hoskinson; as well as other loving family and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his great-grandma, Joanne Woodard and grandpa, Mike Winn.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Visitation was held in April.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Camp Heart Connection Oncology Camp in loving memory of Jon.
Friends and family will gather at a later date to celebrate his life. We encourage friends to share their sympathies with Jon’s family using Hamilton’s online condolences at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I am so saddened to learn of Jon's passing, and I extend my deepest sympathies to his whole family. I have known Jon the past two years, while he attended Hoyt. He was so outgoing, curious, kind, funny, and could charm anybody. His bright light will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to meet him.

My condolences to Jons family. You raised a wonderful child! He was a sweet soul who touched the lives of all that knew him. Gods goodness & love shined brightly through him. I had the pleasure of working with Jon, last year, as a support staff educator. His upbeat, bubbly personality, story-telling skills, smooth-talking (especially among the girls that he professed were his girlfriends ) & memory for matching voices with names captured my heart. We all know that Jon is free of pain & is dancing in heaven.

What a shining light. You brought smiles, laughter, and warmth. I looked up in the Heavens last night and saw the most brightest star. Is that You.

I didn't have the chance to meet you in person (short of a waiting room), however, I could tell from what your Mom and Dad (Aaron) have told me, you were courageous through this battle and endured with life and happiness.
My dearest and heartfelt sympathies go to your Mom and all your family and friends through this time. I pray you find peace in God's everlasting grace.

There will always be a smile on my face when I think of Jon. Because whenever I saw him that is what I was doing. He could make you forget about your problems and turn a bad day around. He was put on this Earth to be a bright light for everyone to love. My heart goes out to his family, especially Christina. Thank you for keeping us involved in his life.

I know I never got the chance to meet Jons family, but I was part of his camp heart connection family. I remember his first year at camp he was the happiest, most outspoken, funniest kid around. He always knew how to put a smile on your face even when he was struggling. Jon was an amazing young man and I thank god everyday that I got the chance to meet him and be apart of his life. I will forever miss his tight hugs, him painting my nails in arts and crafts, asking me (and every other girl at camp) to the all camp dance, his tiny hand of smooshed flowers he would pick me, and him singing let it go as loud and proud as he could. Jon was an amazing young man and I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts, love, and prayers are with you through this time. He will never be forgotten.
Rest in paradise little buddy ??
