Terry Dean Shissler, 69, was born February 13, 1951 in Ontario, Oregon, the son of Dean and Mildred (Burnett) Shissler. He passed away Monday, April 6, 2020 at his home in Des Moines, IA.
Terry proudly served his country as a sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years in retail management and manufacturing. Terry was an avid woodworker and many of his works grace the homes of family and friends.
Terry is survived by his son, Dean Shissler and girlfriend Jennie Tachovsky both of Nebraska City, NE, siblings: Lauretta (Allen) Barrow of Brainerd, MN, Max Shissler and longtime-partner Bobbie Long of Grand Island, NE, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean M. Shissler and Mildred H. Woods.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund in loving memory of Terry.
Due to public gatherings being limited to 10 people or less, there will not be any public services for Terry at this time. Friends and family will gather later this summer to celebrate his life. Terry has been cremated and a private burial will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
