Lowell R. Fuller passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Sheridan Park United Methodist Church, 4100 E. Sheridan Avenue. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services, burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Lowell was born in Des Moines on December 28, 1922. He was a proud alumnus of East High School, from which he graduated in 1941. Until recent years, Lowell and his friends never missed an opportunity to cheer on their team at an East High football game.
Lowell proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a dedicated employee of Armstrong Tire and Rubber Co. for many years before his retirement. Outside of his work, he had many hobbies and interests including fishing and traveling to visit family and friends. For more than 50 years, Lowell was a member of Sheridan Park United Methodist Church where he served in countless ways.
Because of how he lived his life, Lowell leaves a tremendous legacy. He was a man who loved people and demonstrated it through many acts of kindness. He was sincerely devoted to his family and was always a loving husband, father and grandfather who offered many hugs and encouraging words. He also was giving to his friends and actively looked for opportunities to help others. The door of Lowell's home was always open to those who needed a cup of coffee or a helping hand. His generosity and love toward others were testaments to his depth of character.
Though he lived a life of service, he did his good works quietly and without fanfare. Lowell always had a grateful heart and was truly thankful for the least kindness shown to him by others. He was always the gentleman, always polite, and always caring. He was a man who had unwavering faith in God and his life was truly an example of that faith.
Lowell Fuller is survived by Mae, his much-loved wife and companion for over 66 years, and their two daughters Marjorie White and husband Bob of West Des Moines and Linda Sandy and husband Garry of Edmonds, Wa.
