#1 Dad-
Ahhh...my handsome Papa!
When I was preparing to come home to Iowa to meet you for the first time (34 years ago), Mom told me, "You won't believe how much he looks like Paul Newman!". But when I saw you at the airport, I said, "YOU are much better looking than Mr. Paul Newman!".
I think that first meeting sealed the deal for our special friendship for all the years to follow, and Papa...I will always be so grateful to have had you as an example of what a "perfect gentleman" is.
I told you many times that you were the best man I'd ever known, and that I had always wished Mom had met you earlier in life, so that I could have been raised from a child with you. You said, "Well...I'm a better late than never Dad!", and you were right about that!
What I will miss most is your VOICE. Your way and your manner of speaking...how you started most sentences with a long, drawn out, and very kind , "Well....".
I absolutely loved how easy it was to make you laugh...how easy it was to melt your affectionate heart...and as long as I live, I'll never forget what it sounded like to hear you come to the phone when I called and say,
"Well....how's my #1 Daughter?"
My heart is broken at the loss of such a wonderful, kind soul.
Our loss is Heaven's gain, Papa.
Thank you for everything, I'll miss you forever.
I love you...from your #1 daughter

Dearest Sister, we are so very sorry for your loss. It is times like this our faith is put to the test. Never does our God put more on us than we can bear but at times it seems like the weight of the world is on our shoulders. We are so glad at these times that Norm proclaimed Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour! We pray that you find comfort in your memories and in time, the Peace that Jesus Christ will provide. Know that you are continually in our thoughts and prayers.

You always said you couldnt wait to go home to God. As sad as I am, I am happy to know your are in a better place now. A place you've been looking forward to since I was a kid. Im thankful you took my brother and I in at 5yrs old and raised us to be who we are today. Other wise I may not be where I'm at and might not have become the man I am today. I'm thankful for having you in my life and will miss you so much. You treated me like I was one of your own an I'm forever grateful. Until we meet again. I love you.

Dad/Pappa
You were in the room with me when I gave birth and held all my children within minutes of their first breath, you loved them and laughed with them. My children cried when they had to come home, and ran to your open arms as soon as they saw you. Pappa never missed a birthday or a special occasion.
You traveled to Mexico (even though you thought you were going to get your head cut off) and you walked me down the isle to give me away at my wedding.
You stood beside mom and loved her with a love that was Devine. Whatever you faced either happiness or hurt you held all before God . You led your home with Christian values and prayed with mom at all times. You taught me the the meaning of unity as your love for mom was fierce. Most of all I want to thank you for being a Dad. You see Pappa when I was 3 I cried so much nobody could watch me, I wanted my daddy who died back and I wanted mommy to smile again. You heard God call and you wiped my tears away and made mom smile again. Thank you for a lifetime of care and love. My children will miss Pappa and hold you in their hearts and I will forever cherish your gift of the love a father for his daughter Tell my dad in heaven that you were an awesome Dad and I am happy
Till we meet again
I love you DAD

Norman was such an amazing and loving man to everyone who knew him. Soft spoken man, He was so true to his family. He worked hard all of his life. Gave his military service with honor. This world will be missing a great and humble man.
