Service Details

Thongsy (Michao) was born on August 5, 1947. She was born into a family whose parents came from different backgrounds. Her father, Lao Lio, was a Chinese dentist from Hong Kong, China. Her mother, Mouy, was a Chinese/Thai from Thailand. After her parents got married, they decided to do a dental business in Laos where she and her older sister were born. When she was 9 years old, her parents were separated by the legal system. Her father was arrested in Vietnam. Her father asked her mother to send her older sister, Miyeng Lio to him before he returned to Hong Kong, China. She had not heard anything from them since they were sent back.

When she was 17 years old, Thongsy married Khamphao Onelangsy. She changed her name from Michao Lio to Thongsy Onelangsy. For 53 years of their marriage, they had 7 children, 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Thongsy enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and become successful in their education. She wanted them to finish school and obtain good jobs before they decide to get married.

Thongsy had been a faithful Christian. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1982. She believed that when she died, she would be with God in heaven. This must be one of the reasons that she wanted her children and grandchildren go to church and to love one another. Thongsy always showed her love to all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren though her faith in Christ. She passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at MercyOne Johnston Hospice House. She will be missed dearly by everyone.
