Delia "Dee" Ann Clayton

Delia “Dee” Ann Clayton was born February 11, 1936 in Cherokee, Iowa to Philip Jacob and Luella Dorothea (Witter) Wilmot. She was a high school graduate and attended the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School. Dee worked as a switchboard operator for the Iowa Department for the Blind, Job Services for the state of Iowa, and Sears. She married Frank Edwin Youngblut, Charles Clayton, and Richard "Dick" Clark who all precede her in death.
Dee enjoyed her evolvement with ACB and ACBDA were she spent many hours talking and educating numerous wonderful people about the programs. Her CHAT rooms were her favorite places to be, to keep connected with the world and all the wonderful friends she had there. Also, she enjoyed time with all her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Dee passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC at the age of 84.
She is survived by her children, Sandra K. Feldman & Larry Deetz, Carolyn Jo Martelli (passed 21 Mar 2020), Art & Nancy Clayton, and Kelly Feldman; sibling, Alma Leonard; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other extended family and friends.
Dee was preceded in death by her grandson, William “Billy” Feldman; siblings, Allen "Buck" Wilmot, Dean Wilmot, Donna Gadke, Dale Wilmot, and Rick Martelli.
There will be a memorial service held on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Burial will follow the service at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. The family will greet friends for two hours prior to the service.
There will be a gathering with lunch at Union Park west shelter by slide after.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Art Clayton and Sandy Feldman clayton_art@att.net in loving memory of Dee.

I worked with Dee at Sears Credit many years ago, she was always delightful to be around. I was always amazed at how straight she could braid her hair. Her potato salad was delicious! I would often give her rides home after work.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom...Caras grandma was always such a lovely lady. So sweet and kind. Cara, Uncle Rick and Aunt Jody loved her so much. It brings me comfort knowing all three are together taking care of each other. Xoxo

My prayers are with you all. Your mother was a great friend. She was so loving and caring,a great smile alway no matter what it was. I will never forget the love she share with all of us from Iowa Braille school. Her love of seeing us all. Our second big family of Iowa Braille school. Your mom was alway brightening everyone day. In so many ways. Just remember your mother is still by your side. Smiling and saying I love you all. Remember just say mom and she can hear you all. She still watching over you all too 24/7.

It is hard to believe that you were gone. So many will miss you, I definitely will miss our friendship, and have enjoyed knowing you. You are such a sweet soul. Go rest high on that mountain :-)
