Ricky Dale Terrell Sr.
March 18, 2020
Ricky Dale Terrell Sr. was born to Robert Terrell Sr. and Roberta (Lafrance) Terrell on April 22, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa. Ricky passed over from earth to heaven on March 18, 2020. Ricky was blessed with two children, Ricky Terrell Jr. and Tammy Terrell.
Ricky was educated in the Des Moines School System. Ricky was a Golden Glove Champion for a few years. He enjoyed listening to old school music. He loved spending time with family and friends but also enjoyed his “me” time.
Ricky met and dated Wanda Calaway for a brief time in 1974. They reconnected in 2000 and married on October 13, 2001.
After holding several jobs, Ricky found his calling doing daycare with his wife, Wanda. Papa could be seen at the park with the kids or taking them on long walks. He was that Papa that allowed the granddaughters to make him up with lipstick and paint his fingernails. He often participated in bicycle tricks with the boys, one which caused him to break his hand when the ramp came down in the middle of the trick. Ricky would impress the kids by pretending to eat dog food and real worms. He loved his grandkids and they loved him.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Roberta Terrell, his grandparents, his brothers Lennie Terrell and Robert “Bobby” Terrell Jr., granddaughter Amerah, grandson Brian Wheels, and his in-laws Nathaniel and Wyona Calaway.
Ricky leaves to cherish many memories his wife of 18 years Wanda R. Terrell, his son Ricky (Earlene) Terrell Jr., his daughter Tammy (Lonnie) Baker, his step-children Antwan (Shalonda) White, Marlina (Lonnie) Williams, Jeri White, over 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, his brother Dwight (Kim) Terrell, his sisters Anita and Denise Terrell, and a host of many other relatives and friends.

We all need time to grieve, time for reflection to sift through precious memories and come to grips with what has happened. Time to let the tears flow, not for the one we lost, but for ourselves as we realize things will be different now. God gave us the gift of time, and one of its greatest uses is the healing of a broken heart. Even during your darkest nights God has promised to hold your hand, wipe away the tears and pain, and replace it with love and peace in this difficult time. So many care about you in your time of sorrow.
Prayerfully submitted
