Andrew Wade Sandberg
March 14, 2020
On March 14, 2020, loving father and friend, Andy Sandberg, left our Earthly world.
Andrew Wade Sandberg was born in Des Moines, Iowa to B. Charles “Charlie” Sandberg and Suzanne Halbach on January 11, 1974. He was raised in the Knoxville and Melcher areas and moved to Des Moines in his teenage years after the loss of his mom. He lived with his father and stepmother, Janet Sandberg, and attended North High School. In his adulthood, he dabbled in several career fields such as baking and the hotel business. He was united in marriage with Kimberly McBurney. The union blessed him with two beautiful boys. After the separation of Andy and Kim, he was reunited with his high school crush, Michelle “Mikki” Vaughn. She then brought her three loving children into his life. After her passing in 2016, he continued to love them as his own.
Andy lived his life to the fullest. He loved going on motorcycle trips whether it be to Washington DC, Colorado, or the local super market. He rode rain or shine, heat wave or polar vortex. “I just like to ride.” He bonded with people over his love of riding and anything related. This included repairing motorcycles, purchasing motorcycles, and teaching loved ones to ride motorcycles.
He was your go to guy. If you needed a custom bed frame or a new dining room set, he had you covered. If you needed your engine repaired or your tires rotated, he made the time to help you out. He even made a children’s porch swing and an awful sounding xylophone that he was still so proud of. If you needed a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen, he would take you on a ride to Saylorville Dam. Lest we forget the hugs we all wish we could have right about now.
Andy is survived by his children, Tabitha (Ron) Hartman, Brandon (Monique) Sandberg, Nicholas (Rebekah) Vaughn, Cody Sandberg, and Tiffany (Trystan) Vaughn, his brothers, Todd (Helen) Stuart, and Don Fuller, his sister, Michelle Fuller, his grandchildren, Lucy, Lydia, Charlotte “Charlie,” Zayne, and Lucien, and his many cherished friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother Suzanne, his father Charlie, his stepmother Janet, both his maternal and paternal grandparents, and the love of his life, Mikki. He will be severely missed.
