Frank Leroy Perkins, age 98, of Des Moines passed away March 13, 2020 at the VA hospital in Des Moines.

Frank was born August 10, 1921, the son of Alpha Clinton Perkins and Gladys Annette Patterson. He married Marilyn Deutsche June 5, 1949 and they have lived in Beaverdale for the past 50+ years.

Survived by his daughter Coleen, son Dana (Joleen), granddaughter Sarah, and nephew Martin (Casie). Preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, daughter Annette, and sister Shirley Ann.

Frank was a World War II veteran and served in the 752nd tank battalion. After the war he returned to the United States and began a career in sales. Frank loved being on the road and sold products for Pitney Bowes, American Sign and Indicator, and many others.

A motto Frank lived by is “Take it day by day and do the best you can. Do what you have to do and don’t give up.” In his 90’s Frank wanted to take his first sailplane ride and requested it for his birthday. That’s Frank, in Ames IA., soaring with the local sailplane club. Frank always looked forward and always wanted to see what was around the next corner.

Frank was loved very much by his family and will be deeply missed. His life well lived will be carried on through his family and those he touched.

A private interment will be held at Glendale Cemetery.
