David Wayne Johnson, age 65, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines due to heart and lung complications.
Dave was born in Long Beach, California on April 13, 1954 to Fred and Dorothy (Corley) Johnson. He worked in sales and had recently retired. Dave attended Lutheran Church of Hope. He enjoyed NFL football and was a Kansas City Chiefs fan. He liked being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was an avid reader and his favorite author was Stephen King. Above all, his favorite thing was spending time with his little granddaughter, Elise.
Dave is survived by his wife of 38 years, Denise; daughters, Amber (Bill) Kuehler and Steph (Sam) Reeves; granddaughter, Elise Kuehler; siblings, Linda Hill, Carolyn Tyzbir, and Lon Johnson; mother-in-law, Lois Smith; brother-in-law, John “Butch” (Wanda) Smith; sisters-in-law, Jolene Smith and Renee Smith; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Johnson; siblings, Fred Johnson and Barbara Butler; and his father-in-law, John V. Smith.
There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines. There will be a time of fellowship following until 4:30 p.m.
