Charles Leroy Koch

Charles Koch, age 76, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. He was born on September 6, 1943 in Atlantic, Iowa to John and Mabel Koch. Charles proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.
Charles served in the Navy for 8 years, 11 months, and 19 days and was discharged on September 17, 1969. He enlisted in Fairfield, Iowa and was a petty officer, serving his time in Pearl Harbor in Hawaii where he completed training for submarine school. He received training in Torpedo MK 37, electricity, and electronics. He was also stationed in San Diego, California for some time.
Charles worked various jobs in his lifetime as an electrician and carpenter. He married Betty on May 9, 1981 and at some point they divorced. Later in life, he was noted to have a long term relationship with Tracy Ann Jackson. They were together for 17 years. He loved her very much and they made the decision for him to come to the Iowa Veterans Home based on his health. He lost her shortly after he came to the Iowa Veterans Home.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mabel Koch; and his brother, Russell "Rusty" E. Koch who passed away in 2017.
Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter with full military honors.

I think that it should be noted that he had been married to my mom, Bernadette Keavney who passed away 2/28/1997.
He had two children with her Charles Leroy Koch Jr who died from a brain tumor in December of 1987 and a daughter, me, Christina Ann Koch. He also has another daughter whom I don't know much about, but her name is Bernadette Koch.
I'm sorry I never got to know him better. Rest in peace
