Richard D. Williams, Sr.

Richard D. Williams, Sr., 86, passed away February 26, 2020 at Mercy One Hospice in Johnston.
Richard was born August 17, 1933 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Lancelot and Jean Williams. He served in the United States Marines. Richard was an active member of the NRA and a devout Trump supporter. He loved military history. Richard also loved his wife’s cooking. He was a kind and gentle hearted man. Richard was a jokester and a story teller and always in good spirits.
Richard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet; children, Linda (Kevin, Sr.) Harvey; Cindy (Wayne) Burch, Richard Williams, Jr., Carrie (Gregory) Glenn and Tammy (Mark) Bryan; grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Danielle, Shonna, Kelly, Kyle, Ryan, Wayne Jr., Michael, Janet, Amanda, Randy, Jr., Ronnie, Shawn, Shannon, Taylor and Holly; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marjorie Little.
The family will greet friends Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Richard will be laid to rest with military honors at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel.

It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my friend of over 45 years. Dick was always honest, supportive, and caring. I will miss our many coffee-runs and good conversations. Rest In Peace, my friend.

I only meet him one time when i was with shonna. He made me feel welcome in their home. May he rest in peace
