Dale Deal

Dale Edgar Deal, 82, was born January 2, 1925 in Zearing, Iowa, and passed away Monday, January 15, 2007 of complications from pneumonia at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral service will be held at 10am Thursday, January 18 at Altoona United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins, Iowa. Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home from 6-8pm Wednesday, January 17.
Dale was a life long resident of Iowa and had lived in Altoona from 1953 until November of 2005 at which time Dale and his wife Mary Ellen moved to Mill Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny. Dale lived in Collins, Iowa from a young age until his entrance in to the Armed Forces in 1943, proudly serving his country in World War II.
Dale was a member of the Altoona United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Masonic Temple and the American Legion. Dale donated his time and energy by helping his organizations to improve the community in which he lived. He owned and operated Dale E. Deal Construction Co. from 1960 until his retirement in 1992.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Deal; daughters Pamela (James) Harris, Barbara (Paul) Woods, Janet (Peter) Vielhaber, and Lori (Michael) Swim; and daughter-in-law, Crickett Deal. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen Burns and Bernita Heacock, both of Des Moines. Dale had 12 grandsons, 4 granddaughters and 4 great-grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his son, William John Deal; mother and father, Harold and Mabel (Kelderhouse) Deal, and brother, Donald Deal.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Altoona United Methodist Church or the Altoona Lions Club.
