Service Details
George C. Deer, Sr., 86, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from heart failure. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the funeral home with burial at Rising Sun Cemetery.
George is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Dave) Wilson of Urbandale; sons, Paul (Janet) Deer of Shell Knob, MO and George C. Deer, II of Ankeny; grandchildren, Darin (Diane) Deer, Kim (Charlie) Bishop, Travis (Sylvia) Deer, Lisa Deer, Jason Ranker, Eric Ranker, Tony Carlson, David Wilson and Christine Wilson; five great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin Deer, Sr.; sisters, Helen Ballard, Mildred Walters, Grace Reed; and step-sister, Ilene Kagarice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Deer; grandson, William Karl; brothers, Verner and Norbert Deer; and sisters, Agnes Gustafson and Anna Pink.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Fire Department.

To Caroline, George, Paul and Families,
Words can not express what you are feeling now. You have my deepest sympathy.
I know I have missed a lot of family gathering but I have always thought of all of you.

Dear Carolyn, Paul and Georgie and your families. Shirley and Dennis just emailed me with the news that Uncle George had died. So sorry to hear that he suffered and was in the hospital. We'll check back to see when the services will be but don't think we will be able to drive up. I have many memories of him and he had such a good sense of fun. Our sympathies to all the family.
