James M. Dake

James Michael Dake, age 72, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020.
James was born November 18, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Leonard and Mary (Beard) Dake. He graduated from North High School in Des Moines. He worked as a press operator for R&R Donnelly from 1967 until his retirement in 2001. James was an active member of The Basilica of St. John. He was a former member of the Knight of Columbus and enjoyed playing Bingo.
He is survived by his siblings, Judy (Ron) Ellsbury and Thomas (Linda) Dake, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of other extended family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mary Dake, and his brothers, Larry, Jack, and Leon Dake.
There will be a rosary at 6:00 p.m., followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at The Basilica of St. John, 1915 University Avenue, Des Moines, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. Uncle "Bud" was a kind, sweet man.
My 5 grown children grew up around him when we lived down the street from him and grandma Dake. Very fond memories. My 2 daughters, Kaydi and Lauren only met him once at the family reunion.
