LaVerne "Verne" Bieghler

LaVerne “Verne” Bieghler, 77, passed away January 27, 2020, at MercyOne Medical Center in Newton, Iowa. He was born on August 30, 1942, in Madrid, Iowa, the son of Carroll and Gladys Bieghler.

Verne worked for both National By-Products Inc. and J. Petticord Inc. as a mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Verne is survived by his children, Sue Royce and LaVerne William Bieghler; grandchildren, Paige (Dan) Geisenhoff, Matt (Nikki) Royce, Ana Royce, Craig Royce, Natalie Royce, Elvi Olgren, Nick (Lexi) Olgren, Jeni Hornbacher, Daniel Hornbacher, Jasmine Bieghler, Janessa Bieghler and Quentin Sharer; great-grandchildren, Khloe, Bradley, Carter, Ari, Ava, Landon, Maycen, Kallon, Aubree, and Isabelle; his siblings, Robert Bieghler, William Bieghler, Richard Bieghler, and Sharon Grismore; the mother of his children, Linda (Bruce) Gauley; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Hornbacher; grandson, Wade Olgren; and brothers, Donald, Ronald, Raymond and Melvin Bieghler.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m.
