Service Details
Jacob Ryan Pullen, 8, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from injuries sustained in a car accident. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jacob was born March 29, 2000 in Des Moines to Jason Robert Pullen and Angela Nichole Harvey. He was in the 3rd grade at Clay Elementary at SE Polk School District in Altoona. Jacob was a happy, energetic boy who loved to read, enjoyed WWE and monster trucks. He attended Grace Church and was a member of the Concrete Cruizers Car Club.
Jacob is survived by his parents, Jason Robert Pullen and Angela Nichole Harvey; sister, Savannah Harvey; paternal grandparents, Gary and Sandy Pullen; maternal grandmother, Kim Edwards; uncles, Christopher Pullen, Chad (Maranda) Harvey and Justin (April) Harvey; aunts, Maggie (R.J.) Lancaster and Jamie Lynn Foutz; great-grandmothers, Veltia Pullen, Kathleen Schwartztrauber and Edythe Jones; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Edwards.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jacob Pullen Memorial Fund at Legacy Bank, 502 8th St. SW, Altoona, Iowa 50009.

Jacob, it’s been 15 years since you’ve passed and I’ve thought about you more times than I can count. Your passing has taught me so much about life and how important it is to be good to people. I will continue to remember you and continue to tell your story. Today I work in an elementary school for troubled youth and I often tell your story and both our good and not so good times. You may have passed 15 years ago but you still continue to help me grow and become a better man every day. You are missed deeply.

We are so very sorry to hear of your loss. What a beautiful little boy. The loss of a child is something that no parent should ever have to endure. I hope that you can find the strength to get through this horrible tragedy. We want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. If there is anything that you need remember friends are everywhere, you just have to make sure you ask for their help.

We wish to express our condolences for your family during this terrible tragedy. My husband and I are in the process of adopting our twin grandsons who are also 8 yrs of age. GARY,SANDY,JASON,& CHRIS...We are at a total loss of what to say! We wish that there was some sort of magical wisdom that could come to us..but there is nothing but tears of heartbreak knowing how you all hurt right now!You are in our prayers & thoughts at all times...the only thing we can do is hug you when it's needed & a ear to hear you when you talk...everytime we think about him he is in your arms laughing & thats the way he will always be remembered!!!

Robert and Angela my deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. I just want you to know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I personaly know the grief you are going through right now and trust me there is nothing in this world that is more difficult than loosing a child. When or if you are ready, one of the ways I work through the loss of my 4yr old daughter is by going a group called compasionate friends, I am a member there are no fee's associated with this we feel that we have already paid our dues in life. It's just a group of parents who have lost their children who find comfort in talking with eachother about our children, the kind folks there at hamilton can help you with the contact information, I would ask that you please at least consider going. We meet at the Hamiltons on westown prkwy on the first tuesday of every month.

I am very sorry to learn of your loss of Jake! Cherish and share your memories of him and don't stop looking for the reasons and lessons of why he chose you to be in his life! I also lost my 8 year old son in a recent pedestrian/auto tragedy. Today makes it exactly 3 months ago since his accident. Time has played little effect on us all, but I pray that through time, God will show you signs of wonderful comfort and wisdom! i am so sorry to hear about this.. we knew jacob he came over and my 12 yr old showed him how to ride a two wheeled bicycle without training wheels. jacob was so happy he had to show grandma and mom when mom got here. jacob will be missed by all. was a very loving child and was loved by many.
