Katrina "Katie" Johnson

Katrina “Katie” Johnson, 29, passed away on January 19, 2020 at Methodist Medical Center.

Katie was born October 14, 1990 to Johnnie and Kathleen (Katzureck) Johnson.

She was a well-known bartender in the Des Moines Metro area. She loved bartending and meeting all the fun people that quickly became her friends. She was a social butterfly and a big kid at heart. She will always be remembered for her kind and loving spirit - she would be the first to offer you the shirt off her back.

Katie is survived by her children, Patrick, Zoley, Ophelia and her nieces Sierra, Nellie and Lettie; dad, Johnnie Johnson; grandma, Phyllis Cunningham; siblings, Mallory Johnson, Corey (Kelsey) Johnson, Anthony Guyer, Taylor Guyer and Shane (Amanda) Roerig; aunt “mom”, Jeannie (Chris) Crawford; Katzureck & Leysath Families; as well as a host of other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mom, Kathy Katzureck-Johnson; grandparents, Richard and Coleen Katzureck and James Cunningham; great-grandma, Helena Smith; uncle and aunt, Chuck and Jane Leysath; and great-uncles, Raphael “Ray” Smith and Pete O’Neal.

The family will greet friends on Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Celebration Church, 6204 SW 9th Street. Memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm also at the church. Katie will be laid to rest at a later date with her mom and other relatives at the St. John’s Cemetery in Cumming, Iowa.
The family invites everyone to join them following the service to a reception at the
Club 2000, 422 Indianola Road - Des Moines, Iowa.
