Melissa Huffman

Melissa Ann Huffman, 44, passed away on December 27, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center. She was born July 17, 1975, in Des Moines, the daughter of Larry and Jackie Huffman.
Melissa attended St. Theresa’s Catholic school and later graduated from Hoover High School. After graduation, she studied nursing at Grand View University and worked at Principal Financial for a couple of years. In 2007, she became disabled and attended New Horizons Adult Center in Ankeny. Melissa enjoyed trips to Prairie Meadows and going on field trips with New Horizons where she made many friends who became family.
Melissa is survived by her mother, Jackie Huffman; brother, Justin Huffman; close family friend, Paul Flohrs; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry; brother, Michael Huffman, and her grandparents.
Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines on Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 4-6 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Road on Monday, January 6, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation in loving memory of Melissa.

My long lost love, we just found eachother again and I was just about to be able to do what you wanted me to and all i know is God brought me back a week or 2 ago qft we 23 yes for a reason. I will never forget the last things we both said was "i love you" i will see you again one day and until then feel free to haunt me if you want. "I silent angel is fwlt everytime the wind blows " we literally had just said the prayer for gods armor together when you were at the dentist. I still don't believe this. But god takes his ppl when he wants i love you Melissa. And to the sisters and brother. I am the man that lived on the corner house when cody first started school. In 2002. Im so very sorry for your losses. My mom sister and little brother are gone too. Melissa and I had alot in common and i was trying to save her or give her the house in the country w no drama like she asked for. I have it right now. Well all see her again, and she never going to be hurt again and is up there dancing and yelling w your mom. I know this isnt ever the way ppl want to show back up. But with all fairness she had just opened up to me about alot and im just in shock right now i cant believe this im so sorry for your loss. If yall ever need me please don't hesitate to call. We are so very sorry to hear about Melissa passing away. We can say goodbye with Hope, because we know we will meet again someday! I will miss her silly laugh from our phone calls when we were teasing Paul. Jackie if there is anything we can do please let us know. We love you!!!!
