Thomas L. Dawson

Thomas Leroy Dawson, 61, left this world peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2019.

“Tom Tom”, as his family called him, was born April 17, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa to Thomas Walter Dawson and Geraldine Hess.

He is survived by his siblings, Cheryl Dawson (John), Jim Dawson (Andrea), Anna Dawson (Dan), Tina Harter (Bill), Walter Dawson (Lesley), Ronald Weddell (Lora), Chad Weddell (Shawn), and too many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews to count. He is also survived by his true love, Cindy Harlan, and Maggie their puppy. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Gregory.

Tom was loved by so many for his kindness and willingness to help people. Tom’s family was his life and he took pride in helping to take care of all of his nieces and nephews. Although Tom had no children, he helped care for so many. All kids who knew Tom became Tom’s kids and they cherished spending time with him. It seemed no matter where Tom went, he would make new friends. Tom had a passion for tinkering with old bikes so he could give them away to people in need. He will be missed by so many people.

Heaven gained a loving, caring soul… Tom Tom.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 6, 2020 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow.
