Gary Friesner, 74, passed away at his home on December 19, 2019.
Gary was born August 12, 1945 in Carroll, Iowa to Eldon and Gladys Friesner. He had lived in Des Moines for six years. He previously lived in Estherville, Iowa, several cities in Nebraska and Garden City, Kansas. Gary served in the National Guard. He worked in sales for many years. He loved dancing, roller dancing, watching football and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Gary is survived by his sons, Jeff (Chrislin) Friesner, Mike (Mindy) Friesner and Ryan (Beth) Friesner; sisters, Pam (Howard) Meyer and Debbie (Jim) Peton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and a host of extended family as well as his “family” at Ft. Des Moines Senior Living.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Friesner; and an infant daughter.
The family will greet friends Monday, December 23, 2019 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 3857 East 42nd Street. Gary will be laid to rest in Hampton, Iowa at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Unity Point Hospice in loving memory of Gary.

Gary was such a good friend to my dad (Ray) at Fort Des Moines Senior Housing. I enjoyed his sense of humor and seeing his smiling face. He was a kind man and my life is better for having known him. Our thoughts are with you.

Grew up around Gary working at Burtis Motor. Later worked with him in sales when I was old enough to do that. Was a good man and very good friend. He has many people in SW Kansas that will miss him. RIP Gary.

I was so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. He was a very gentle soul and I danced with him a few times at the Eagles and Croatian dances. God bless you all until you meet again.
