Betty Leege

Betty Jean Leege, our precious mother, went to the arms of Jesus and to be reunited with the love of her life, L. James Leege, on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 11:50 p.m. Betty was born September 30, 1937 in Portsmouth, VA to Gerald Alexander Terry, Sr. and Marion Ashley (Boyce) Terry. She was raised on the East Coast in New York and Virginia for the first few years of her life before her family moved to the Midwest.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children: Debbie J. Allison (Bill), Jim D. Leege (Lorri), Terri A. Putney (Ed), Connie L. Foster (Gary), Ruth L. Johnson (Steve), Michael D. Leege (Peg); siblings, Marion L. Gess (Ken), William A. Terry (Bobbi), Ralph E. Terry, Sr; fifteen grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L. James Leege; parents, Gerald Sr. and Marion Terry; sister, Geraldine and brother, Gerald Jr.
There will be a celebration of Betty’s life on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Salvation Army building – 1216 East 25th Court, Des Moines, IA 50317 in the L. James Leege Gymnasium that is named in honor of her husband. She will be interred at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Betty.
