Mitchell Ray Earhart
December 13, 2019
Born July 27, 1953 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, IA to parents Ray and Mable (Geisinger) Earhart. He attended schools in Ricketts, IA, Las Cruces, NM, Schleswig, IA and graduated from Fremont High School in Fremont, NE in 1971.
He was a great left-handed pitcher playing baseball in Little League and during high school with several articles naming him in the local papers. Mitch always loved cars and his 1968 Chevy Camaro was his pride and joy!
Mitch retired in 2014 but in 2015, he became a bus driver for Norwalk Schools and drove Bus #4. He absolutely loved the kids and enjoyed their notes and cards they gave him. He always had the ability to start a conversation with the kids and made them feel comfortable when they were scared to get on the bus on their first day of school.
He started riding motorcycles at a young age and through the years owned several Harley Davidson motorcycles. He loved going on bike rides with his son, Clint, until he finally sold his last bike in 2019. Mitch also loved to go fishing and to watch his Seattle Seahawks play football.
On December 27, 2014, he married Deborah Hockett and they lived in Norwalk, IA until his death on December 13, 2019. While their marriage only lasted 5 years, they knew God had brought them together and they deeply loved each other.
Mitch was preceded in death by his father, Ray; maternal grandparents, Clyde and Alvina Geisinger; and paternal grandparents, Frank and Ethel Earhart. Left to mourn is his wife, Deborah Earhart; his mother, Mable (Amy) Earhart; his sisters, Kristi (Eldon) Dorsey and Tamara (Chuck) Fisher; his sons, Clint (Angie) Earhart, Clayton Earhart; daughter, Kaytlyn Hockett; nieces, Mindi Matthies, Amanda Graham, Katie and Courtney Bredlow; nephew, Brett Dorsey; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials funds will be divided between Teen Challenge of the Midlands and Hope Ministries. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
Services will be held Friday, December 20, 2019 at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Family will also greet friends following the service.

A few years ago, the girls soccer team was lucky enough to have Mitch as their assigned driver. He didnt wait on the bus- he brought a chair or a blanket and sat with the fans in the stands and cheered on the team- calling the girls by name. Ill not forget asking him which player he was with- his response was the whole team. He was a true fan of the kids! Prayers for your family- he was a gift to the kids!
