Phillip "Pete" O'Neal

Phillip “Pete” Morris O’Neal, 82, passed away December 15, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.
Pete was born February 18, 1937 in Des Moines to Willard and Mildred (Graves) O’Neal. He served in the United Air Force for four years and the United States Navy for four additional four years. Pete retired from J.L. Miller Construction in 2005, where he had been a painter for many years.
Pete is survived by his daughter, Lori Phipps; brothers, Paul (Bonnie) O’Neal and David (Jackie) O’Neal; sister, Phyllis Cunningham; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kim Lamb; brother, Patrick; his loving wife, Glenna; and his beloved cat, Scoot.
The family will greet friends Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 12 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Pete will be laid to rest with military honors at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

By far one of the greatest men I had the pleasure of having in my life for a period of time. Very wise man with a heart of gold. My deepest condolences to his family. RIP Gpa Pete, Go fly high with Gma?

Pete was one of the nicest guys ever. Over the years there were only a few times I ever saw him get upset he had such a gentle demeanor and he always treated me like family. With all my respect and admiration Rest In Peace sweet Uncle Pete????
