Albert "Jim" Gumm

Albert “Jim” Gumm, 76, passed away in Des Moines on December 13, 2019, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Webster City, Iowa on April 9, 1943, to parents Albert and Jeanette Gumm.
Jim worked as a truck driver for more than 40 years and was an active member of Teamsters Union 238 for many years. He loved couponing and finding a good bargain, traveling, visiting casinos, and tending to his yard. Jim also enjoyed anything with an engine, especially motorcycles, classic cars, and semi-trucks. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling jokes.
Jim is survived by his wife, Anita Gumm; children, Denny (Bonnie) Gumm, Debra (Kevin) Barnes, and Jody (James) Seely; stepsons, Ronald (Nikki) Buchholz and Rodney (Amber) Buchholz; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Jack Gumm, as well as other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alan Gumm, and his brothers, Jerry, Denny, and Raymond Gumm.
The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW. Burial will follow the service at Altoona Cemetery.

Jim was such a great guy. Before she died Jim was married to my mother in law Sharon for many years and I take comfort that she was so loved in her final days. He was also an incredible stepfather to my ex wife Kathy. He certainly will be missed.
