Deanna L. Routh

November 30, 2019

Service Details

Deanna Lynn (Strauser) Routh was born October 22, 1960 in Kansas City, MO to George L. and Carol A. (John) Strauser. She was proud to be from the “Show Me State” and she would often work it into conversations in funny ways. She had been a resident of the Des Moines area for the past 45 years. She enjoyed going to the casino in her free time and had a love of English Bulldogs.

Deanna had a generous soul and a loving heart. She was literally a mother to everyone she met. Her family was her world. She was proud of each and every one of her children and thanked God every day that He gave them to her. She loved her children’s spouses like they were her own kids and left a positive influences with each one. She would even take in kids off the street if she saw a need. Everyone in the family called her “Mom” or “Momma”. She talked to her mom every day and loved to have family over and to cook for everyone. She always put others before herself. Even in the most difficult days of her illness, she was always asking how everyone else was doing. The last thing she said to her family was, “Tell the kids that I love them.”

Deanna passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the age of 59.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 22 years, Michael Routh Sr.; children, Monkey McLaren (Sandra), Daniel Routh (Jessica), Chris Minella, Michael Routh Jr. (Angel), Sam Routh, Aaron Routh (Amy), Mark Routh (Lindsay), Michelle Smith (Ryan); 32 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her mother, Carol Kimbel; siblings, Leann Folkers (David) and Claude Strauser (Cindy); and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Deanna was preceded in death by her father, George Strauser; brother, Durrus “Doug” Kimbel; son, Jesse Shepard; and many other dear loving family.
