Ron,
I just learned of Barb's death via my father in Des Moines. Barb and I were great friends during very influential years of my life. She was my teacher in 7-9th grade and became my friend and mentor. She even let me drive her car when I got my driver's license at age 16.
We visited your parents in Jefferson City in, I believe, the summer of 1971.
Through the years we drifted apart as I graduated from college, became an Air Force officer and traveled/moved extensively; but I spoke to her last summer and planned to see her this year when I return to Iowa to visit my parents.
I've no idea what happened to her or if she was ill. I am sorry that I was not there for her if she needed someone. She always mentioned you in our conversations and updated me briefly on your life when we last spoke.
I just wanted to tell you I'm very sorry for your loss. It's also important for you to know that she was a very important person in my life and I shall never forget all she taught me.
Sincerely,
