Joyce Martin, 76, passed away November 24, 2019 at Methodist Hospital.

Joyce was born November 3, 1943 in Lucas County to Clede and Wilma “Berneice” (Bay) Mitchell. She lived in Iowa for most of her life minus the two years she was in North Carolina. In 1960 she married Robert Martin. Joyce worked for Russell’s Trophies as an engraver for 40+ years.

She enjoyed teaching Awanis and Sunday school at her church. In her spare time she liked to read, fish and playing cards but her greatest joy was spoiling all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Philip, Wendell and Harold; siblings, Alice, Dorothy, Patsy, and Berneice “Meme”; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lloyd; and sister, Edith.

The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 also at the funeral home. Joyce will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
