Ronald W. Thomas, 80, passed away surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on November 20, 2019, at Hospice of Marion County in Ocala, Florida. He was born February 24, 1939, in Swan, Iowa, the son of Wayne and Dessie Thomas.
Ronald was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Ron was active duty for three years beginning in 1957 and then served as a reservist through 1963.
He worked as an electrical engineer for IBM and retired from there. Some of his hobbies were restoring 55-57 Chevy cars, his train collection, and fishing.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Janet Thomas, daughters, Cynthia Kobeda (Edward), 3 wonderful grandsons (Christopher, Clayton, and Collin), Rebecca Press (Michael) and 4 beautiful granddaughters (Ashlyn, Brooke, Cara and Kali), Son, Curt Thomas (Michele) and 2 wonderful grandsons (Cameron and Braden), sisters, Barbara Thomas, Patricia Cole, Connie Petrie, Sandi Heisler, and Debbie Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Dessie Thomas, his brother Gerald (Jerry) Thomas, and his youngest daughter (Diane Marie Thomas).
The family will receive visitors at 6:00-7:00, Honor guard presentation if available, then a time of sharing to begin after the presentation on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50313. He will be laid to rest at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Our deepest condolences to the Thomas family...Ron was an awesome person who really loved life, his family and his 55-57 chevys! In fact that's how we met him and Jan...
