Before school districts even thought about requiring mentors for first year teachers, educators like Carl existed. His friendly way of treating students, as well as, young teachers has been greatly appreciated. Carl could put anybody at ease with his talk of travel or any other experience, including education. I consider Carl as one of the individuals who shaped Ankeny High School into the institution it is today.

To the Troxel family,
I am so saddened to hear of Carls passing. I knew him over
40 years ago when I worked at the Woodland Sundries and he was
a regular customer. He was such a nice man, and one that I will
always remember. Many times I had thought of him and am sorry
that I did not have an opportunity to visit with him in the years
past. My prayers are with you and may you enjoy many memories of
Carl.

Carl was a cherished colleague, a remarkable, caring educator, a man gifted with mirthful humor and a highly respected and appreciated mentor when I was a young educator. His tireless devotion to friends and family set a very high standard for those who choose to carry the title of friend. The world is lessened in his absence, while, surely, Heaven gains. God bless, and Godspeed. Prayers ascend while grace prevails.
