I met Pat through Can Do Cancer as we became "breast cancer buddies". So even though we hadn't known each other very long, she was a sweetie. She had an amazing outlook fighting this disease. But what was more amazing to me is that when we had a chance to sit down and really talk for a couple of hours, she didn't dwell on her health issues. She talked about her family and friends and how much they meant to her. Every time I see an owl, I will think of my little Pat "Owl" Nelson.

We worked together in some way or another at Mercy for more than 20 years. Pat was never in a bad mood and I loved hearing stories about her family. She was especially proud of her grandson. She will be sorely missed.

I will miss Pat. She was such a pleasure to work with in HR at Mercy. She was willing to do whatever we needed of her to get a job done. Her positive attitude and caring heart influenced everyone around her.
