I just heard this news today and this one hurts. Dave, you were like a father to me as a young man growing up with Jason. I have so many fond memories of my time with you and your family. You, Diane, Jason, and Heather were family to me. You probably didn't realize it at the time, but you made a profound impact on my life, at a weird and troubling time for adolescent me. I spent more time in your house for a few years than I did my own, thank you for that. Jason was one of my best friends growing up. The times we spent at Applebee's (You were a big shot with your own spot at the bar I still think of you when I drive past that south side Applebees), taking me along to sporting events and monster truck jams, teaching me about the dangers of reckless driving, and even buying me my first...well... I'll keep that between me, you, and Jason (My mom eventually found out though ha-ha). I wish I wouldn't have grown apart from your family, because you were such an amazing man. To Jason, Heather, Diane, and the entire Curry family, I am so deeply sorry for this loss. But know that the memory of your Dad lives on and will for lifetimes to come. Rest easy Dave.

Diane, Jason, and Heather: Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of your husband and father. We have good memories of Dave who was a very wonderful, caring person, fun to be around, and a person who cared very much for his family.

Words are never adequate in moments like these. Kelley and I will always have special memories of our treasured brother-in-law. We are privileged to have known Dave as a thoughtful, kindhearted person who, on occasion, could be a little cantankerous and bull-headed. The last two attributes, as his mother-in-law would often say, made him an honorary Croatian. An honor she only bestowed on a few select individuals. Someone once said There are things that we don't want to happen but have to accept, things we don't want to know but have to learn, and people we can't live without but have to let go. Well miss Dave but well never forget what he meant to our family.
