Carolyn was the fourth girl born to her parents, Thomas, Sr. and Cleo Iwed on September 8, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Hoover High School and went on to obtain certification in childcare. She then married and had two daughters, Sarah and Rose. The family resided in Osceola, Iowa.

Carolyn was a talented oil paint artist and loved to paint horses on mountainsides. She loved horses and had many over the years, riding well into her 60’s. She also loved fishing, spending Saturdays attending garage sales, and time spent with her family. She was a talented musician and often played the violin for the Hopeville Music Reunion.

After raising her children, Carolyn began working in Des Moines and in 1993 married Richard Woodruff. The couple lived in Osceola and later moved to West Des Moines where they joined Pathway Church in Johnston, and enjoyed traveling together.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Sarah Ann (Phillip) Davis of West Des Moines, Iowa and Rose Lee (Jacob) Olson of Thayer, Iowa; her cherished grandchildren, twins, Jovanna and Grace (9), Logan (8) and Brooke (5) Davis; her siblings, Donna Scheidler of Des Moines, Marge Creighton of Indianola, Patricia (Ron) Avery of Osceola and Thomas Jr. (Nancy) Iwed of Osceola; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews that she adored. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas, Sr. and Cleo Iwed; her husband, Richard Woodruff; and brother-in-law, Robert Creighton.

She lost her battle with Cancer on October 30, 2019. She was a strong and independent woman right up to the end and never gave up hope or faith.
