John Alan Ballantine

John Alan Ballantine, 48, beloved son of Mary Barnum and the late Alan Ballantine, passed into eternal life on Sunday, October 27, 2019 in Des Moines, Iowa.
John was a 1989 graduate of Dowling Catholic High School and worked for many years in the banking industry and most recently in hospitality. John was a proud father with a warm heart and a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and was loved and supported by his family. John was an avid sports fan and especially loved cheering the Iowa Hawkeyes
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary Barnum; his daughter, Faith Nesbit (Justin) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister, Lisa Budde (Jerry) and their children, Angela and Carson; sister, Amy Smock (Shane) and their son, Shane II. Also surviving are his former wife, Kelly Blaschke; stepsisters, Kathy Barnum (Kelm Brueschke) and children Amberle (Travis), Aubrey and Kyra; Kelly Barnum Lackman and her children Ella and Eva; stepbrother, Gary Barnum (Sandy Fulton) and daughter, Madison; his uncles, Richie Ballantine (Martha) and Mike Ballantine (Stephanie); and half-brother, Todd Ballantine.
John was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Alan (Michelle) Ballantine; and stepfather, Allan Barnum.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, November 2, 2019 with visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Webster City, Iowa at Calvary Cemetery.
