Joseph "Joe" Lose
October 27, 2019
Joseph Anthony Lose passed away on October 27, 2019. Joe was born in Des Moines on April 1, 1963, along with his twin brother, John, to John Sr. and Joan (D’Arcy) Lose.
Joe enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and reminiscing about the ‘good old days’, especially growing up on SW 2nd Street. He shared his mother’s love of putting together jigsaw puzzles. His greatest joy came from spending time with his son Jonathon. They enjoyed each other’s company watching movies, fishing, or just hanging out. He was very proud of Jonathon! Although Joe was tall and slender, he loved to eat and could really put away the food.
Joe is survived by his son, Jonathon; siblings, Pat Lose, Nora Lee (Ed) Witt, John Lose Jr., Mary Alice (Paul) Monroe, Steven (Missy) Lose and Mike (Janet) Lose; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Thomas and Bob.
The family will greet visitors from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2019 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 2nd at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at St. Patrick’s Irish Settlement in Cumming, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family or to Christ the King Catholic Church.

On behalf of the Lankford family, I am sending thoughts and prayers to all of you. We've known you guys almost our entire lives, growing up down the street on sw2nd. Your house was the place to go to play and my sister and I spent a ton of time there. Joe was a great guy and may he rest in peace

I am at a loss of words. Joe had such a big heart and was a wonderful friend. I will miss him dearly. His sense of humor and love of music was entertaining.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
