Jimmy Kelley

Jimmy Dale Kelley, age 62, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019.

Jimmy was born December 9, 1956 in Des Moines, Iowa to Charlie and Melva (Palmer) Kelley. He was employed as a truck driver his entire adult life, working for Beeline Trucking for 10 years, Dohrn Trucking for 10 years, Old Dominion Trucking, and Hawkeye Trucking. He was involved with the Fire Department in Bondurant for many years. Jimmy loved fishing, camping, and being outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed boxing. Jimmy liked antique cars and was a member of the Plymouth Car Club. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Jody, daughter Misty Kelley, son John Kelley, sister-in-law Donna Jean Kelley, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Melva Kelley, and his siblings: Shirley Barnett, Charlie Kelley, Larry Kelley, Melvin Kelley, Danny Kelley, and Cindy Sorenson.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2019. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. There will be a reception at Four Mile Senior Center immediately after the burial.
