Donna Gilbert

Donna R. Gilbert, 80, died Monday, March 16, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines from complications following colon cancer surgery. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Donna was born December 1, 1928 to George and Leah Van Vlair. She attended East High School, where she was a member of the color guard. She enjoyed collecting many things including Elvis memorabilia.
Donna is survived by her sons, Donald (Sharon) Gilbert, Kenneth Gilbert, and Timothy (Sherry) Gilbert; grandchildren, Melissa (Stephen) Eggley, Dan Gilbert, Ashley (Rick) Walls, Tim (Amber) Gilbert, and Katie Gilbert; and great-grandchildren, Hayley, Tessa, and Maxx.
Memorial contributions may be given to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
