Richard Dennis Gatewood, age 62, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019. He was born September 26, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa to John Johnson and Darlene Wade. He was last employed by Eagle Iron as a laborer. He is survived by his siblings, Steve (Joy) Gatewood, Jeffrey Gatewood, Ramona (Dana) Gatewood, Tony Gatewood, Stacey (Kim) Smith, Conrad Smith, Luwana (Venson) Newsom, and Kimberly McCracken; children, Tykesia Gatewood, Richard Frasier, Richard Gatewood II, Josh Newsom, Jessica Newsom, Jaresa Newsom, McKenzie Kenyon, Justin Gatewood, Cashmere Wade, Drahcir Gatewood, Diamond Gatewood, and Demetrius Gatewood; significant other, Waneta Marie Hill; father, John J. D. Johnson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Renee Gatewood; mother, Darlene Wade; step-father, Harrison Wade; brother, Don Smith; and his sister, Shelly Gatewood.

Mr. Richard Gatewood Sr it would take 4-ever to speak about you from a child to a man and the life of our entire families. I have always loved you and always will. You will be missed beyond measure . I thank God I had the chance to know you and be your family. I am not saying goodbye at the end of this life, I am preparing to say hello in the next life.
