Arlene Lewis, 102, passed away at Taylor House Hospice on October 6, 2019, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was born August 1, 1917, in Mason City, Nebraska, to Oscar and Jennie Runyan.
Arlene graduated in 1937 from Newton High School where she played R Gang girls kittenball. She worked at Roswell Ice Cream Parlor, as a caregiver at the park, making 50 cents to put up the flag, and retired as a secretary at Lewis Tool & Die, Inc. She had a passion for volunteering at the American Legion Auxiliary, PTA, Bondurant Christian Church, Mother’s Club, and Mary Anna’s Circle. Arlene loved her Tuesday Morning Coffee gatherings, being the Bondurant Bubble Club Hostess, baking her famous pumpkin bread, and selling antiques and collectibles. She was “EVERYBODY’S MOM” for seventy three years.
Arlene is survived by her children, Janice (Max) Cummings, Janine (Al McDaniel) Lewis, Harvey (Sue) Lewis Jr. , and Julene (Darrell) Ripperger; grandchildren, Ryan (Andrea) Cummings, Jen Cummings, Angie (Robert) Fredericksen, Steve Young, Susan (Lloyd) Byers, Rick (Pam) Ripperger, and Stefanie (Phil) Carra; great-grandchildren, Rainier Cummings, Amara Cummings, Everest Cummings, Gabriel Fredericksen, Chloe Fredericksen, Jason (Nicole) Byers, Kaitlyn Ripperger, Darrack Carra, Tyler Ripperger, McKenzie Carra, Quincy Carra, and Kelsey Ripperger; seven great great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Roger (Louise) Lewis; sisters-in-law, Pat Lewis and Wilma Thorson; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Sr.; daughter, Janette (Andy) Young; and siblings, Ralph, Ray, Frances, Cloyde, Lyllus, Ivan, and Louise.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Bondurant Christian Church, 304 Grant Street South, with burial to follow at Bondurant Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church Friday evening from 5-7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice or Bondurant Christian Church in loving memory of Arlene.

Beautiful, sweet Arlene. I enjoyed being able to visit with her,and the family. Wish I had spent more time with you all. What a testament to the love you all shared. There is no doubt in my mind that your love, and support was vital so she was able live to 102! God bless all of you.
