Danny Borghi, 65, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Danny was born April 3, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from East High School and was a life-long proud Eastsider. He was a family man and always put his loved ones first. His retirement was devoted to spending time with his many friends, playing fantasy leagues. Danny was an avid sports fanatic and loved to watch sports TV. He especially enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs.
Danny is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jorene “Jo” Borghi; sons, Matt Borghi, Danny Hannan, Brian Nielsen (Kacee), and Beau Nielsen (Stefanie); grandchildren, Matthew, Aidan, Zoey, Taylor, Gavvon, and Mia; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; his life-long best friend, Steve Kuefner; and many other loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Bruno Borghi; sister, Diane; and brothers, Guido and James.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the family.

You were the best neighbor in the world and I have known you all of my life and we both ended up back home and were still neighbors once again.
