Franklyn A. Finch

Franklyn Finch, 95, passed away on October 2, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at Taylor House in Des Moines. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Daniel and Susan Finch.
Franklyn graduated from North High School, where he lettered in track. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WW II and then spent his career working at Firestone in Des Moines. Franklyn was an amazing fisherman and enjoyed every moment he had doing it. He was an avid hockey player and was instrumental in bringing hockey to the Des Moines area.
Franklyn is survived by his children, Connie Finch, David (Jennie) Finch, and Douglas (Melissa) Finch; grandchildren, Joleen, Jeff, Chris, Shawna, DJ, Stacy, Josh, Adam and Shelby; 14 great-grandchildren; and 6 great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Judy; his parents; brothers, Daniel and John; and sister, Ruth Ellen.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with services following at noon, on Monday, October 7, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Taylor House in loving memory of Franklyn.

He was a man of few words..but he was funny too..I know that he will be able to BE with the love of his life "Barbara"...mom...peace to you and family..
