Benny "Butch" Lawrence Campfield
September 30, 2019
Benny “Butch” Lawrence Campfield, 70, passed away September 30, 2019. Butch was born January 5, 1949 to Bessie (Berry) and Benjamin Campfield in Des Moines, IA. He worked in the trucking industry as a semi-driver for most of his career. This afforded him the opportunity to travel and see much of the country. When he was home, he had his own body shop.
In his free time, Butch loved to fish. He was fond of whiskey and cokes, dirt bikes, muscles cars and country music. He had a talent for singing but rarely shared it. When his children were younger, he enjoyed taking them on the road with him and sharing what the world had to offer. Over the last few years he became very close with his children. The family believes that the reason he held on for so long, was because he had his children by his side.
He will be missed by his children, Jodie Siska (Mike), Stacie Geneser (Todd) and Jason Campfield (Jeff); grandchildren, McKenzie Siska (Marty), Hailey Corell (Calvin), Breanne McMullen (Seth), Emily Allison (Tyler), Jack Geneser, and Danielle Geneser; three great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Gloria Campfield; sisters, Joan Boatwright and Betty Combs; and brother, Richard Campfield (Jean).
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Katherine and Frances.
Butch wished not to have a visitation or funeral, but there will be a memorial gathering on November 24, 2019 at Felix and Oscar’s, 4050 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society in memory of Butch. Online condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
