Mary Scrowther

Mary M. Scrowther, 88, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mary was born September 15, 1920 in Des Moines to Carl and Agnes (Knorr) Woxell. She retired from Commercial Printing after many years of service. Mary was a member of Rising Sun Church of Christ. She loved to travel with her brothers and sisters, crochet, spend time with her family and spend time at church. She was always there to help others with anything they needed.
Mary is survived by her children, Marlene Gordon, Herbert “Butch” Scrowther, Judith (Larry) Houseman and Joyce Scrowther; brother, John Woxell; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert Scrowther, her sisters: Helen Linden and Delores Page; and her brother Hal Woxell.
