Michael Vargus

Michael D. Vargus, 57, passed away September 22, 2019, at his home in Mason City, Iowa. He was born in Des Moines on February 4, 1962, and raised by his aunt Juanita who took him in as one of her own after his mother died at a young age.

Michael attended Lincoln High School. He worked for Stone Container for many years, but was currently employed by NIVC Services in Mason City. Michael was a creative man who loved to draw, paint, and listen to music. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his daughters, Mellissa (Andrew) Hall and Kristin Oulman; grandchildren, Alexander, Emmett, Millie, Steffen, Alaina, Luca, Adrian, and Mila; siblings, Kathy (Jack) Ackelson, John Vargus, Jay (Linda) Bennett, and Nancy (Brian) Floden; as well as a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther; aunt, Juanita; and daughter, Cassandra.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at the Lakeside Center, 400 NW Lakeshore Drive in Ankeny, Iowa.
