Keith A. Goodwin, 73, passed away at home on Saturday, September 7, 2019. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines and the memorial service on Friday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Meredith Drive Reformed Church, 5128 Meredith Drive in Des Moines. Burial of Keith’s cremated remains will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
Keith was born July 7, 1946 in Des Moines, IA to Laura (Petty) and Glenn Goodwin. Following graduation from high school, Keith served in the Iowa National Guard. In November of 1965, Keith married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Puckett. He worked for Puckett Tools for 52 years as an Assistant Manager.
Keith was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and the backbone of the family. He had an amazing personality with an endearing ornery streak. Keith loved watching his kids play sports and was a huge supporter. He loved his dogs, Ellie, Gracie and Libbie, his fishpond, watching football, and traveling – especially to Hawaii.
Keith treasured his special friendships throughout his life and the family greatly appreciates their support throughout Keith’s illness.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Carol; his son, Ryan (Julie); daughter, Mindy; grandchildren, Nate and Madison; and his brother, Gary. Keith was preceded in death by his son, Rodney; his parents; and his sister, Diane Rogers.

I think the thing I admired most about Keith was his love for Carol. After 50 years of marriage, he still treated her as if they were newly married. That love extended to his family and friends. He was AMAZING and we're so very thankful to have been his friends.

I was so sorry to hear of Keith's illness & passing, Jim & I got to know him through Puckett's. Over the years, we thought of him as a friend. He was always kind & helpful. I think he & Jim got along so well because they were both so ornery. Now they can give each other grief on the other side. He will be missed.

Keith will be missed as a great neighbor! He and Carol were always ready for a potluck. And Keith did have a sense of humor that was perceptive!

Oh Carol this is so heartbreaking to hear. I have so many fond memories of growing up with you and Keith and babysitting Rodney! My mom passed away with Pancreatic Cancer and I know how painful and terrible this disease is. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!

I am sorry to read about the lost of Keith. I grew up across the street from the Goodwins. I remember going on an evening walk with them, to see who had the best looking lawn on the block. ;)
