Twila Lynn Greene, born on April 12, 1958, was called home at the age of 61 on August 27, 2019.
Twila, born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, attended Roosevelt High School, followed by Iowa State University. Twila was a single mother of two who worked hard being an accountant at the Des Moines Register for 28 years. Due to several strokes, Twila resided at Granger Nursing and Rehab for a number of years. On August 27th, Twila was called home to rest alongside her mother Emma Mae Greene, father Cleo Greene, younger brother Cleo “Brother” Greene, Jr., and her son Kimbrew K.W. Greene.
Twila left behind her only daughter Jamica Haney, three inherited sons – Jeffrey Hudson, Justin Watts, and Terry Cooley, along with a handful of grandkids, many friends and sister Carla Wolfe. May her strong soul rest in peace. She will forever be missed.
There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made directly to her daughter in loving memory of Twila.

Twila was my friend for 46 years. We met in high school while playing basketball and while in Black student Union there.Turns out my mother, Janice, knew her mother, Emma Mae.
We had fun playing basketball except our sophomore year when we lost every game. After that we had some successes on the basketball court. Senior year sophomores and juniors moved Twila and I out from playing much along with our good friend Laurie Shade. But we made the best of it by calling ourselves "we are the end of the bench". We would hide our "snacks" candy, popcorn and chips behind the bench and eat it during the game since we knew more than likely we wouldn't get in the game. But close to the end of some games we would see Coach Cole stand up and walk down the bench to us and we would put our heads down hoping she wouldn"t put us in the game.1. because we had eaten our "snacks" and 2. because we didn't want to sweat out our uniforms for a minute or two of playing time.
Twila and I raised our children together and we always thought that Jamica and my second son Richard would get married. They fought all the time as children then later became more like a brother and sister who are close.
Twila loved to watch her soap The Young and the Restless and her beloved pretzels but of course only after she pinched the salt off. After her strokes she was feisty and sometimes could be funny, with me at least.Even when she couldn't speak anymore last Saturday, Sunday and Monday she would let me know she was still in there by letting me hold her hand while I talked to her. The last time I saw her a few hours b4 she passes as I was leaving I told her "I love you" and she shook her head, yes.
She was my best friend and she will always be my sister from another mother.

Rest peacefully with the angels Twila. Jamica, Ari, and Jamarrio, just know she's not suffering and is no longer in pain. Always know I'm here for you and yours for all time. I'll miss your mom with all of my being but I know she's in a better place. Love you.

My condolences for the family. I would like to share a comforting thought from the Bible: 2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4: ''Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.'' God is willing to comfort us so that we can help others. May Jehovah God provide that comfort for the family!
